17 Nov Glenn and Elaine Flegg Trek Madagascar
You may have heard that our intrepid founder, Glenn Flegg and his wife Elaine have just arrived home from their expedition to trek some of the highest mountains in Madagascar. The trip was undertaken in order to raise money for Myeloma UK a cause very close to their hearts, and the couple were even featured in an article in the Maidenhead Advertiser.
We received a few words from Glenn upon his return:
“Hi Folks
We are back home after a very tough trek in Madagascar incorporating climbing the 2nd highest mountain there, Peak Bobbi is just under 11,000 feet taking some 3 hours to climb & 2.5 hours to descend & then we trekked for 4 hours to climb the 2nd mountain which was around 9,000 feet – descending into camp in the dark for a well-deserved rest. Twelve hours trekking in the searing heat!
It was probably one of the hardest treks I have ever encountered, especially after the previous day – actually getting to the mountain, but certainly a fantastic experience. We then spent six days on a remote island to relax and recuperate.
We wanted to thank everybody for their very kind donations to our Just Giving site and along with other donations we raised more than £1,500. We also had some great news while we were away, our good friend Alex Kerr who is suffering Myeloma and had been in a coma in Royal Marsden Hospital prior to our departure has regained consciousness & is now back at home.
Thank you all once again for your support & keep well Glenn & Elaine”
We are all very proud of their achievements here, and would like to also thank everyone who donated to the cause – you can still contribute to their JustGiving page.
