28 Sep allAgents removes over 70 reviews of Purplebricks after legal challenges
Just in case you needed more convincing that you should use an established and trusted high street estate agent instead of an online agent to sell your property; here’s some more news.
Last week we saw the latest ‘too good to be true’ online service take a hit, in the form of Uber having its operating licence revoked by TFL. This comes in the same week that Purplebricks had 70+ negative reviews removed from its allAgents profile. In recent years we seem to have forgotten the oldest adage of ‘if it seems too good to be true – it usually is’.
We are regularly approached by vendors who have tried to sell their properties online and been let down only to revert to traditional, tried and tested methods. Here at Glenn Flegg we pride ourselves on our professional approach to every property. We fully commit our time and expertise, combined with our local knowledge to get the best prices from the best buyers for our clients – this is why we’re one of the leading estate agents in Slough and the surrounding areas.
After receiving a legal letter from representatives of Purplebricks, allAgents removed a number of reviews (71) that were all one-star reviews with the exception of one which was a three-star. It is yet unclear as to the credibility of the reviews; however this lack of transparency from the online agent is questionable.
Not only did allAgents have to remove the reviews but now it seems that on 21st September Purplebricks were removed from the allAgents site entirely issuing a statement:
“Not only, it appears, does Purplebricks not like what our reviewers say about them on allAgents, but they’re also rather miffed about what we wrote about the suspension of the Purplebricks profile on our site. So, due to the further threat of litigation from Purplebricks, we’ve decided to remove it, despite it being entirely factually correct. We’re a small company, and we just don’t have the money for a prolonged court battle against a Plc with a market cap of £1 billion. We hope you’ll understand.
In our humble opinion the thousands they’re paying their lawyers to write to us might have been better spent responding in a positive way to the criticisms raised by our reviewers.” allAgents.co.uk
We regularly have reviews posted on allAgents for our teams at both of our branches in Langley and Burnham. We rarely get anything other than 5-star reviews, but if we did we would recognise the value and improve our service to make us a better agent for the future – it seems that professional development is less important for online agents.
If you are thinking of buying, selling or renting your home why not get in touch with the leading estate agents in Slough and surrounding areas – drop us a line and a member of our team will talk you through your options. You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Also, if you have any questions or comments about the benefits of using high street agent vs an online we’d love to hear from you.
